Director's NotesJune 2024
The Calhoun-Gordon Council for a Literate Community stays busy working to support and encourage literacy awareness, family literacy and adult education in Calhoun and Gordon County. The Board of Directors maintains active relationships with both the city and county school systems, the city and county governments, the city/county library, local Career & College Academies, the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Gordon County. The Council is fortunate to receive financial support from United Way, a number of local corporations and organizations, and state and national entities. The Council purchases and donates school supplies, books, and learning tools to students throughout Gordon County, organizes "Stay in School" programs, promotes its agenda through Keep It In The County at the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce, finances projects for the Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library, and funds all GED test fees for prequalified candidates at GNTC. |
